The pandemic has required people and businesses to operate differently. Offices were forced to close so employees had to shift their work to their homes. This was a challenge in itself but with offices reopening it poses a different challenge for businesses.

This means employees will need to have access to a system that works seamlessly at home and in the office. To accommodate this business owners are turning to private cloud solutions.

What Is Private Cloud?

A private cloud solution is a form of cloud computing that has the same benefits of a public cloud but it can be created specific to the owner’s needs. Unlike a public cloud, a private cloud does not share resources with other users. Everything is for the use of the owner and owner alone.

A private cloud operates within hardware that is onsite with the owner. This can be existing equipment or equipment purchased specifically for the job. Private clouds can also be built to the specification of the user. They won’t be limited by any “off the shelf” cloud solution.

For example, a private cloud could run programs centrally whereas a product such as Microsoft 365 is a simple data storage platform.

Security

Private clouds can also be seen as more secure than a public cloud. The owner knows where the data is stored (in their office), they can set extra security measures (Firewall, 2 Factor Authentication) and they can limit who has access to the system.

Accessibility

Similar to public cloud setups, private clouds can work wherever you have internet access. They can be accessed across multiple devices if desired or can be limited to one portable device (laptop) to use in the office and at home.

Summary

If you take all of these factors together, this is what makes a private cloud solution so desirable to the hybrid workplace that most of us now operate in. They can be tailored to your needs, easily expandable, more secure and there’s seamless working from various locations.

This is a setup we’ve become very familiar with so if you think it’s something your business would benefit from then please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
